Civil Service Learning

Civil Service Learning is a small, new Civil Service organisation which is responsible for setting a Common Curriculum for generic learning and development and providing generic L&D opportunities for the whole of the Civil Service.

By having one provider of generic learning and development and one purchaser of L&D provision, the Civil Service will be able to save arounfd £90 million per year and will significantly reduce the amount of duplication which occurs when each Department sources, purchases and develops similar learning intervanetions.

Civil Service Learning launched in April 2011 and continues to add to its learning and development portfolio, with the aim of having a full range of opportunities available from April 2012.

From April 2012 the expectation is that all Whitehall Departments' genereic learning and development needs will be met through the CSL common curriculum.

To access the CSL Portal for the first time, each individual needs to register and this takes between 5 and 10 minutes. You will be asked to complete a number of fields which include location, employment type, working patreern. Please note there is an option of 'prefer not to say.' When you register you will receive a password which you will need to use for future visists to the site. Here is the CSL website address www.civilservice.gov.uk/learning

Frameworks

BIS Frameworks are open to BIS Agencies and Other Government Departments:

Coaching

Coaching is part of the Department's overall learning and development provision, providing support and development to help individuals and teams develop the skills to meet new challenges and performance goals.

The Learning and Development team has set up a framework agreement with providers of coaching services, broken down into a series of lots. The lots in the framework agreement focus on the different needs of particular individuals and groups.
