Managing Vacancies and Selecting Staff – Refresher (PE006)

Suitable for:

Recruiting Managers, within BIS, who wish to refresh their knowledge and understanding of the Recruiting Manager's role and responsibilities, especially since the changes made in February 2010.
The course might also be suitable for recruiters who have substantial experience of competency-based recruiting in other organisations but who have not attended the BIS “Managing Vacancies & Selecting Staff” event (attendance in this case to be agreed with the BIS Resourcing Team).

To be eligible to attend this course you must:

•  be EO or above;
•  have previously completed the “Managing Vacancies & Selecting Staff” event or, if your experience is                from outside BIS, have established your competence and the currency of that competence with the BIS Resourcing Team.

Course Objectives:

  • By the end of this event you will have refreshed your knowledge on:
  • the role and responsibilities of the Recruiting Manager;
  • timelines/timescales;
  • the redeployment process and practical implementation;
  • the application of “Professional Skills for Government” (PSG) within the process;
  • sifting and “double tick” positive action;
  • competency-based advertising and interviewing;
  • the appeals process.

There will also be an opportunity on the event to discuss the key aspects of writing the advert and a short practice session on competency-based interviewing. 

Length:

This is a 3 hour event (am 10.00-13.00 or pm 13.30-16.30)

Cost:

Nil for BIS staff
For all other delegates, including UKTI, Agencies and OGDs the cost is £54
